To Williston, ND; aka Fort McMurray South

Travel Day:
  • Swift Current, SK to Cadillac, SK
  • Cadillac, SK to Weyburn, SK via the Red Coat Trail with a stop in Assinaboia, SK for lunch
  • Weyburn, SK to Williston, ND via the Tribune, ND border crossing

Heading out of Swift Current to the wide, flat southern Saskatchewan countryside.

Southern Saskatchewan; long, straight roads piercing the horizon

These abandoned buildings dot the prairies, left unused and unloved, to crumble once again to dust.

We stopped in Assinaboia for lunch. It's a "big" town in southern Saskatchewan.

Can you tell the difference between southern Saskatchewan and North Dakota?
Me neither, until you get to Williston, ND and realize there is an oil boom going on.
