- Fort Nelson, BC to Muncho Lake, BC via BC 97 (The Alaska Highway)
Coming out of Fort Nelson looks a lot like coming into it, but don't let that fool you. Those mountains out there are where we are headed, the Northern Rockies.
As we head farther along the Alaska Highway, elevation increases and the road gets curvy.
Before you know it, you are up pretty high in the mountains.
Even in some of the flat spots, you can see the rough cut edges in the distance.
Here is what that knob looks like closer up. There's a fair bit of this up here, rough edges.
Those high mountain edges support Stone Sheep, They are often seen along the edges of the Alaska HIghway.
Can you see the moose in this picture. There was a calf and cow on the road but they bailed for the woods before we could get a picture. The Momma is in there somewhere.
We stopped at Toad River Yes, there is a Frog River up here somewhere too.
Yep, that's me. Yep, that's my truck. Yep, I was there.
That picture of the truck was taken along the shores of Muncho Lake, our destination for the day.
Having coffee on the deck of the Northern Rockies Lodge.
Katherine too!
Then, having Sangria on our private balcony at the lodge.
The view from the balcony. That's Muncho Lake out there.
We had a lovely dinner at the lodge, before this picture was taken. That's why we look so happy.
You both are looking wonderful. Travel seems to agree with you.
ReplyDeleteThe moose is dead center behind the birches. Can't see her face but you can make out the general shape of her body :)
ReplyDeleteWell done, Mary. I see the hunting instincts are inherited. :)
