A Day Of Liberty

Travel Day

  • No Travel. just the subway to Fulton Street and Canal Street, then the cab back to the hotel.
We took the subway downtown again, back to Fulton Street. Only this time we walked further down on our way to Battery Park, Along the way we passed this building on Wall Street.

Across the street from the Stock Exchange is Federal Hall, now a national memorial. It was where George Washington was George Washington took the oath of office as our inaugurated as the first US President. This site was also home to the first Congress, Supreme Court, and Executive Branch offices. It's telling that the first home to government in the USA was next to the financial heart of the country.

/That's the Trinity Church at the end of Wall St. It's a short little street running from the church over to the East River.

This is the side entrance to the NYSE. It's also the entrance I used when I had lunch here years ago, while working in New York on a project.

We took the ferry over to Liberty Island from Battery Park. This is the view as you come towards the dock on the island.

This is the plaza. That's Ellis Island in the background, with Jersey City, NJ further behind.

Katherine with the New York skyline across the harbour.

Katherine again, this time with Ellis Island and Jersey City in the background.

The lady, and the lady.

We went from Liberty Island back to Manhattan, then to Chinatown. Here it is, in all its crowded glory.

We found a Shanghai style restaurant for dinner. Katherine quite liked the pictures on the wall. We had a lovely dinner, then headed back to Midtown by taxi. I'd had enough of the NY subway and wheelchairs.
